Amy Madigan plays Kevin Costner's wife in the film, Field of Dreams. Annie Kinsella is a grounded perfectionist, with a refreshing respect for free speech [trace sixties influence] and an improbable dream that seems to settle on her husband. She manages to navigate her Iowa family farm through "inconvenient" waters before, during, and after a unnique intersection takes shape in her backyard. This neutral ground allows the the Kinsella family to meet Shoeless Joe, the famous baseball player on the infamous Chicago team.

Amy Madigan is a Double Virgo: Sun 17 Virgo 41 – Moon 2 Virgo 54 [degrees from the midnight ephemerides]
Mercury 29 Virgo 52 rx - Virgo is the earth sign of Mercury, symbolized as the Corn Maiden
Her Mars 20 Scorpio suggests the dance of Shiva/Shakti through the corn field, transforming the land into a 'sacred playing field' where ghost baseball games are possible.

James Earl Jones is writer and activist Terence 'Terry' Mann, a hero of the sixties counter culture movement in, Field of Dreams. He is one of America's most respected actors - but he remains best known as the voice of Darth Vader in Star Wars.
He told Stephen Sackur that director George Lucas originally had Orson Welles in mind for the role but feared his voice would be too recognizable, so he "picked a guy who was born in Mississippi and stutters".

Native American Ceremony in Celebration of the Harvest
Native Americans refer to an important figure in their tradition: White Shell Woman. After the harvest the sowers would express appreciation and complete the annual cycle by planting small pieces of turquoise and jade as a gesture of gratitude. This simple ritual sealed the bond between the people of the earth and the cycle of agricultural life forces.
In the deck of the Goddess Knowledge cards White Shell [or White Bead] woman, also called Turquoise Woman and Abalone Woman, is sometimes said to be a younger version of Changing Woman.
White is the color of dawn and of the east. White Shell Woman, the creator and sustainer of life, created the Navajo people and sent them their home. As gifts, she gave them shells, which became corn and other food-bearing plants; she gave them the animals; she gave them the gifts of rain and beautiful flowers. With the sun, she is the mother of Killer-of-Enemies and Child-of-the-Water, the dual protectors of the people from their enemies.

A Navajo chant says, “All things around me are restored in beauty.” It is because of White Shell Woman that this is so, and it is because of her teachings that we can experience the exquisite harmony that comes from being alive on this beautiful earth.

Take Me Out To The Field of Dreams in Illinois?

A failed attempt to build a baseball stadium in Zion will play itself out in a courtroom. The owners of the Lake County Fielders -- which includes actor Kevin Costner -- filed a lawsuit against the city last week seeking $10.7 million in damages, and specifically names Mayor Lane Harrison, former Zion Economic Development Director Delaine Rogers and developer Richard Delisle.

The suit demands the city either build the stadium and pay the team $3.7 million, or pay the team $10.7 million plus attorney fees and other damages, court papers show.

News

Sale of the 1989 Kevin Costner movie site Field of Dreams, late 2011, to Chicago-area couple Mike and Denise Stillman and their company, Go the Distance Baseball LLC confirmed.

The new owners said they plan to develop the site as a baseball and softball complex, with multiple fields and an indoor training facility. The original baseball diamond and two-bedroom house shown in the movie will remain, they said.

Ray Kinsella: Don't we need a catcher?

Shoeless Joe Jackson: Not if you get it near the plate we don't.

More from the Scenes We’d Like to See Dept.: The Company Men

Written and Directed by John Wells
Stars Ben Affleck, Chris Cooper, Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones, more

The Company Men contrasts retain startling textural unevenness long after the picture has ended. Interaction between the cast and their environments are sometimes harsh, squeezed forcibly, or pressed through the passage of time. There are genuine reflexes – extant in comparisons between J>S> Bach or Mozart and Neil Young or Thelonious Monk; we see subtle tension between two GTX titans who, basically personify Saturn [contraction, severity] and Jupiter [expansion, optimism]. In metaphysical terms, they represent the pillar of Severity and the Pillar of Mercy. Wall Street employs them as the Bear and the Bull.

During Act One, Gene McClary [Tommy Lee Jones], Vice President of GTX, returns from a Chicago business conference to discover his best friend, Jim Salinger [Craig T. Nelson] fired over 3,000 employees and closed two of his shipyards in one day. “The future is in health care, infrastructure, and power generation; we work for the stockholders now,” states Salinger in a dismissive tone. McClary tries to implement damage control with two men he depended on most, both desperate, trying to cope, but betrayed and, in Bobby Walker’s [Ben Affleck] case, lied to and abandoned.
Walker has a deeply rooted security system within his family, so much so that even his brother-in-law Jack[Kevin Costner] with whom he co-created an oil and vinegar relationship, hires him to work construction during the winter holidays. His parents offer their spare bedrooms after he sells his house, Porsche, various and sundry possessions in a garage sale. Phil Woodward [Chris Cooper] started building ships made by GTX on the factory floor in the misty beginnings when Salinger and McClary were lean and taking risks. His termination forces an emotional free fall; but his family drops off into denial. No one in his personal life is there for Woodward, to provide support during the rough course ahead.

Gradually, GTX stock rises to an all-time high as the recession deepens around the corporate landscape. The third act ties up loose ends so resolutions faced by each one of the transitional characters take shape and firm up.

The Company Men moves us through American socio-economic damages, and some casualties, after the collapse of 2008. Corporate giants like GTX adhere to patterns that strip down and condense, “downsize” the work force, and jettison everything that won’t contribute immediately to profitability. In the final analysis, the prince emerges to secure his position as patriarch during the next cycle of New England shipbuilding. Jack is like the central Pillar [Mildness] that is equi-distant between Severity and Mercy - and represents positive Mars in his own family.

Hollywood star Kevin Costner debuted oil-spill fighter during the BP Gulf disaster in Louisiana waters.
BP began deploying 32 of Costner's "dream" machines to separate oil from water. Costner directed the action on an oil-finding barge with his machines mounted on the deck.

"At its core, my dream, this machine, was designed ... to give us a fighting chance to fight back the oil that's got us by the throat," Costner told reporters.

"When you are in a fight, anybody knows you go to confront it right where it is. You don't wait for it to come to your door," the actor said.

Ocean Therapy Solutions
In theory, twenty of the centrifuge devices could have cleaned up the Exxon Valdez spill in 5 days. BP has a contract for 32 of the centrifuges from Ocean Therapy Solutions (Kevin Costner's company) BP tested the devices for a week and they work.

THE REPORT

Mr. Kevin Costner, the well-known actor, has invested some $20 million [some estimate the Costner brothers have passed the $26 million dollar line] and spent over a decade developing oil separating centrifuges. He helped found a manufacturer, Ocean Therapy Solutions, to advance his brother's research in the high technology of spill cleanup. In congressional testimony, Costner explained the device's operation. For instance, the device spins oil-contaminated water rapidly in order to separate the oil and direct it to a containment tank. The device in the preferred mode of operation can take in thousands of gallons of oil-tainted water and remove up to 99 percent of the oil.

An oil-separating centrifuge manufactured by Ocean Therapy Solutions marks a major breakthrough in spill cleanup technology. BP, after testing the device, plans to order 32 more of the Costner-endorsed centrifuges to aid in the Gulf cleanup effort.
